# Solved: IEXPLORER.EXE running in the background

## matyd (Jan 16, 2005)

I'm on a 2.6ghz WinXP home SP2 512mb ram
I hit alt + ctrl + del and open windows task manager and click processes and there are two iexplorer.exe processes running in the background, one of which is using about 15,630K Mem Usage and the other is running about 2,080K Mem Usage.
I have SpyBot S&D and Spyware Blaster, and i've ran it numerous times, it can't seem to delete like 2 or 3 things at all... even after reboot and it runs before logging in. it still can't delete some things but anyways. I'm wondering what is going on and how do i fix this?

dso fix http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4392.html

Make ure you have the current versions

SpywareBlaster 3.3 http://majorgeeks.com/download2859.html
AdAware SE 1.05 http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html
SpyBot S&D 1.3 http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

DL them (they are free), install them, *check each for their
definition updates* and then run AdAware and Spybot, fixing anything
they say.

In SpywareBlaster - Always enable all protection after updates
In SpyBot - After an update run immunize

Do these and reboot before the next step.

Then get HiJack This http://thespykiller.co.uk/files/hijackthis_sfx.exe - double click the DL file
And let it extract to its default folder C:\Program FIles\HiJackThis, run it , *DO NOT fix* anything, post the log here.

DL http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm

Launch the LSP application, and click the "I know what I'm doing" checkbox.

Then click Finish.

Add remove programs remove newdotnet – If that doesn’t work

DL and run http://www.newdotnet.com/removal.html

In add remove – remove if present – P2P Networking – Warez P2P – Media Access

P2P is the source of your problems

Download CWShredder http://www.intermute.com/spysubtract/cwshredder_download.html
Close all browser windows,
Open cwshredder.exe then click "Fix" and let it run.

Print this and boot to safe mode (Start tapping F8 at the first black screen after power up)
Fix these with HJT
